Power & Capability
First, let's look at what's under the hood of the Grand Cherokee. It'll either have a V6 or a V8 engine powering it. The V6 has a displacement of 3.6 liters and can generate 293 horsepower, which gives it plenty of kick. Some higher models can be configured to run on V8 engines. The supercharged 6.2-liter V8 gives the Grand Cherokee an incredible 707 horsepower and 645 pound to feet of torque, and it lets you tow up to 7,200 pounds. The other V8, which is a 6.4-liter model, can output 475 horsepower and 470 pound to feet of torque, and it has the same towing capacity as the supercharged V8 engine.
Rear-wheel drive is standard on the Grand Cherokee, and this would be perfectly fine for most situations. Most of our Wells customers, however, prefer to get their Grand Cherokees equipped with a four-wheel-drive system. This lets them tackle rough terrain and drive safely even when the weather takes a turn.
